Maggie Beer is one of Australia’s best-known culinary icons and co-founder of Maggie Beer Products. She is a respected mentor to many, and is celebrated for her entrepreneurial skills and natural leadership abilities in the gourmet food arena. Her story is a fascinating one, driven by a passion for food and a determination to succeed.
Maggie Beer is a South Australian Icon, an internationally recognised restaurateur, a multi-million dollar business owner, a TV Host (The Cook and the Chef, Masterchef, The Great Australian Bake Off), and a bestselling author of five Cookbooks; (including The Tuscan Cook and Maggie’s Harvest). But, Maggie wasn’t born with a silver (dessert) spoon in her mouth. She has worked incredibly hard for the success that she enjoys today.
Maggie Beer grew up in Sydney’s western suburbs. At a young age, her parents re-invented themselves as caterers after facing bankruptcy, which Maggie believes has contributed to her strong work ethic. Leaving school at 14, Maggie took on a number of different jobs around the world, before relocating to South Australia’s Barossa Valley, and starting her career as a chef. With no formal training behind her, she has gone on to become one of Australia’s most well-known and beloved icons in the food industry.
In addition to her work in the Restaurant Industry, Maggie Beer has received numerous awards including, the 2010 Senior Australian of the Year Award and induction into the Order Of Australia in 2012. She has also founded the Maggie Beer Foundation, which is aimed at improving the quality of life for Senior Australians.
